Blackpool Airport.

I went to Blackpool Airport today to take some photo`s of light aircraft and did not manage to do so, there are too many fences in the way now, I will post a photo and then you can all see the problem, the photo was taken from Morrisons.

If I say that I have never been to Blackpool Airport, that is not true.
I was taken there when I was very young (though have no memory of this).
My father and my two older siblings went for a flight in a de Havilland Dragon Rapide.
My mother was (always) afraid of flying, so refused to go (and I was forced to remain with her). She said it was so that there was someone to claim the insurance money . . .
I probably wouldn't have remembered anything anyway, but a d-H Rapide was the first aircraft that I never flew in . . .

It is a small World gentlemen, it is the Southport Airshow next month so there should be something to photograph at Blackpool that weekend.

I did a lot of circuits and my first solo at Blackpool (1976). The Manchester School of flying sent their puplils there. When you returned to Manchester you phoned the control tower and booked out to Manchester giving pilots name etce etc. I overheard a chap saying into the phone - Pilot's name BINSTEAD - no - BINSTEAD - BIN as in Rubbish, STEAD as in BED "!!

All the stoops and the nylon ropes have also gone now so we are back to normal for taking photo`s with nothing in the way.

I called in at Blackpool today and noticed that there was a lot more light aircraft on the aprons from the usual odd half dozen and when I asked about that I was told that there was a lot more based light aircraft there now.

There have been quite a lot of Biz Jet movements during 2015 and I hope 2016 will be as good or even better and hopefully passenger aircraft will be seen again taking people on holiday.
