Nimrods @ Woodford.
They have started cutting up the Nimrods at Woodford, they have put fencing up so that you can not see clearly what is going on. What a waste. :(

It's criminal mate just criminal, perfectly good aircraft scrapped well i hope this goverment i satisfied with the biggest cock up it's ever made.
|
They are scrapping two of them that were still on the production line, it beggars belief after all the British tax payer coughed up three and a half billion pounds to build them, what next ?
|
I am sure this will leave a big hole in the detection of submarines, apparantley we will have to rely on other friendly countries telling us. I suppose that is alright as long as they are friendly.

There have been no Nimrods in service since March 2010, and the new ones weren't due in service until October 2012.

Here is a short update, ZJ519 and ZJ523 have been totally cut up and ZJ516 is in the hangar presumably for its engines to be removed prior to being scrapped.

None going to museums?
|
Afternoon G-C, there is one at the Aviation Viewing Park at Ringway, but I have not heard anything regarding the rest.

Will any MRA4s survive? Was ZJ516 actually completed and flying? There appear to be photographs on the internet of it described as 'MRA4'. Was it the only MRA4 that flew? |
Evening G-C, the MRA4 started at ZJ514 and the last I am aware of is ZJ525 but in the 2007 book it went to ZJ531. ZJ516 was definitely completed and flying.
