Lossiemouth or Leuchars ??

I have just read about this...

With the confirmed closure of Kinloss due to the MRA4 program being scrapped it seems Lossiemouth will be retained as a sort of consolation but Leuchars (the Northern QRA) will close.

What the heck !!

I suppose the further north the better overall coverage of the UK?

Our regional council is offering various facilities to local parish councils on a 'no refusal' basis - ie they either accept and finance it or the facility closed down.

Maybe Fife Council should take over Leuchars and run it themselves?

News reaches me a bit slower than the rest of you who may know that Leuchars is to be closed.

It seems the Typhoons of 6 Squadron will go to Lossiemouth while the closed Leuchars (and Kinloss) will be used by the army.

It's being sold as a 'positive' but as an ex-servicemen points out a lot of money has been spent upgrading Leuchars in recent years to accommodate the Typhoon; presumably this will all have to be spent again to fit-out Lossiemouth.
